Lionsgate has announced that they're developing a remake of Dirty Dancing, the cult 1987 film that starred Jennifer Grey and the late Patrick Swayze. Choreographer-turned-director Kenny Ortega will helm the new Dirty Dancing movie. He's no newbie: not only he was the original film's choreographer but later on he also helmed the first two High School Musical films and the Michael Jackson performance film This Is It. So I guess Director Kenny Ortega is a wise choice for the remake of Dirty Dancing.

I can already hear fans moaning about Hollywood making yet another remake of a cult movie. But the story of Dirty Dancing definitely deserves a modern take: it's a great story, and a refresh will just help to bring it to new audiences.
